Teaching & Advising

As my own experiences as a student taught me, and my subsequent research that often foregrounds young adults and their perspectives on higher education has underscored, college is very important in shaping students’ sense of self, approach to learning, understandings of the world around them, and skills for life after college. I have long been passionate about the importance of being an engaging and supportive educator; to that end, I have pursued teaching experience wherever possible and developed a robust teaching philosophy. I have taught and/or advised at the undergraduate, graduate, high school, and adult education (ESL) levels. I was awarded the Derek Bok Center Certificate of Distinction in Teaching (or equivalent Commendation) in every course that I taught at Harvard University. My undergraduate thesis advisee won a Hoopes Prize for outstanding research in 2024, for which I also won a corresponding award.
